About Us

Thank you for visiting the Nexus Journal of Law and Public Policy Blog.

The mission of this journal is to provide a forum for the vast array of individuals and groups that influence and shape American life. Nexus aims to put legal scholarship before an audience of interested professionals, though not limited to legal scholars and practitioners. Thousands of leaders in academia, government, media, law professors, and of course federal and state judges, subscribe to our journal. Nexus is the intersection where law, politics, economics, and media converge.

The specific purpose of our blog is to provide a current forum to discuss legal issues that intersect with contemporary public policy. Once a year, our topic of discussion turns to our symposium topic, and event organized by the Nexus Journal and hosted at the Chapman School of Law, where key legal figures and individuals debate the central issues of the symposium topic. The Nexus Blog further delves into issues related to the symposium topic, as well as other current, hot legal issues. In addition to information relating to our current symposium topic,  you will also find archived copies of past topics as well a forum discussing the concerns of law students. The site is updated frequently, so please continue to visit for updates and current developments, and to add to our discussion in the comments section of our blogs.

In the words of our advisor, Hugh Hewitt, ”[t]he time is coming, and may already be here, when the most important credential for a law student aspiring to success in the practice of law will not be two years before the mast of a law review, but two years spent blogging and developing the skills that will help find and/or keep the clients that keep the practice going. Law firms and law scholars face a brave new world where there aren’t any gatekeepers left, and in fact very few gates. NEXUS is pleased to help bring that word to many who haven’t been paying attention.” (Hugh Hewitt, The Times They Are a Changing (Editor’s Note, Nexus Journal Volume 11)
